At Greenholm School our children recieve a broad and balanced curriculum. We have developed our own personalised Greenholm curriculum and have created a thematic-based model which incorporates all of the skills, knowledge and understanding we want our pupils to learn.

The curriculum is underpinned by strong PSHE and SMSC links which fully support our whole school ethos and promotes British values. The ‘Greenholm Achievers learning Tools’ and PSHE are at the heart of the curriculum. Through the way in which these are taught and developed, they support the children in becoming, confident independent lifelong learners.

 

The curriculum is planned and designed to develop children’s skills progressively across the different subject areas, through a thematic approach. Cross curricular themes are sought to draw subjects together and children’s learning will often interweave a number of areas.

The curriculum is designed to be personalised and responsive to different learners needs so they are motivated, inspired and excited and therefore fully engaged in their learning.

 

Reception classes follow the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) framework focusing on the seven areas of learning and development. These include: Communication and language, physical development, personal, social and emotional development, literacy, mathematics, understanding of the world an expressive arts and design.
