Year 1 Autumn Term Newsletter

Welcome to Year 1! We hope you enjoy your summer break. Here is some information about what will be happening in the autumn term.

This term we have 3 topics. In Science the children will be learning about the 5 senses. We will also be learning about the four seasons and the children will be exploring the changes that occur across each season. The final topic is childhood, which has a history focus on life as a child today and in the past.  As part of our history topic the children will be taking part in Victorian Day and will need a Victorian costume- More information in September.

Please ensure that all children have the correct kit, clearly labelled with your child’s name. P.E kits need to remain in school and will be sent home at half term to be washed.

Children can now bring in a small amount of money for toast during their morning break. Children do not need to bring any more than 60p. Please make sure they bring it in a purse or wallet with their name on it.

Please ensure that children come to school in the correct uniform, including shoes. We would like to ask you to make sure that ALL uniform (and coats) are clearly labelled with your child’s name to avoid any mix ups or children losing their belongings.

Just a reminder that school starts at 8.45am. It is important that the children arrive on time as they have an activity to complete as soon as they come into the classroom.

All children will have a designated day for their homework. We will let you know which day your child’s homework is due and could you please ensure that it is completed on time. We would also like to remind you that unless there is a comment in the home links book their reading book will not be changed.

A reminder that we cannot let any child go home with anyone that we have not been informed of. If someone else is picking up your child, you need to inform the teacher or the school office.

If you have any concerns or require additional information about your child please do not hesitate to ask the staff. Thank you for your support and we look forward to working with you and your child.
