Attendance

It is vitally important that your child attends school regularly and on time. We know that children who do not attend school regularly do not achieve as well as they might do. We always reward children for good attendance and reward each class with the best attendance on a weekly basis.
If your child is absent from school, it is vital that you notify the school as soon as you are able. When the registers are taken, children who are
absent are noted and if we have not received notification of their absence, we will telephone parents to check that they are ill. This is done to ensure that children are safe and have not got lost on the way to school.

The absences of all children are regularly monitored and where a child is off on a number of occasions, we will discuss this with parents. In some cases, we will refer children with a lot of absence to the Educational Social Worker attached to the school.
Children who need to be taken out of school for an appointment must be signed out at the school office. This is to ensure that we know where children are going and with whom.

We are unable to authorize holidays and wherever possible these MUST be taken during school holidays. Parents who want to request an absence for their child must fill in a leave of absence request form. These must be submitted to the school office so that we know where children are.   If parents take their children away without completing a request form, we will exercise our right to charge parents.
