Intent
At Greenholm, our SMSC curriculum helps children grow into confident, kind, and respectful individuals who value themselves and others. We teach key British values like democracy, respect, resilience, and kindness, fostering curiosity and responsibility in all areas of school life. By embedding these principles across the curriculum, we support pupils to become thoughtful, open-minded citizens who contribute positively to their school, community, and the wider world.

Aims/Implementation:
SMSC development is embedded across the curriculum and daily activities to nurture well-rounded, reflective pupils.
- Spiritual: Reflection on beliefs and values through RE, art, assemblies, and creative activities and experiences.
- Moral: Learning about fairness, justice, and responsibility in PSHRE, debates, and school rules and through assemblies.
- Social: Teamwork and community spirit through group projects, sports, charity events, and buddy systems.
- Cultural: Celebrating diversity through assemblies, festivals, global events, and topics in history and geography.
British Values

We promote British values through everyday learning and activities, helping children grow into kind, responsible, and respectful members of society.
- Democracy: Pupils contribute to school life through class charters, school councils, and elections, learning how democracy works.
- Rule of Law: Children understand the importance of rules for safety and fairness, supported by visits from police and fire services.
