At Greenholm Primary School, we aim to make homework purposeful and connected to what children are learning in class. Homework can be accessed through a variety of channels including paper-based, on Google Classroom and ClassDojo. Here’s how homework is organised across the school:
Reception and Year 1
- Children bring home a phonics home reading book and a library book to enjoy for pleasure.
- Weekly spellings are provided for practice.
Year 2
- Homework includes a reading book, weekly spellings, and mental maths practice.
Year 3 and Year 4
- Homework is set on Google Classroom or in homework books, covering reading, spellings, and times tables.
- For children with additional needs (LA/SEND), differentiated work is provided in books.
Year 5
- Maths: Weekly arithmetic and reasoning tasks linked to their learning on Google Classroom.
- Reading: Record at least three entries per week in reading records, checked weekly.
- Spellings: Weekly spellings based on taught rules for the following week’s test, set on Google Classroom.
- Other: Topic-based tasks set each half-term on Google Classroom.
Year 6
