Intent
At Greenholm Primary School, our history curriculum inspires curiosity about the past, equipping pupils to explore, question, and appreciate local, national, and global history. By building a strong chronological understanding, pupils connect events, analyze change, and reflect on the past’s impact on the present and future.
Rationale
Our curriculum provides a structured, progressive understanding of history, connecting significant events, individuals, and themes. A cross-curricular approach immerses pupils in the past, fostering deeper engagement.
- Key Stage 1: Pupils explore the past through significant people, events, and changes, using sources to understand life across different eras.
- Key Stage 2: Pupils deepen their knowledge of British, local, and world history, analyzing sources critically and answering historical questions. In upper KS2, they independently research and present evidence-based arguments.
