Physical Education

Intent

Our Physical Education Curriculum is designed to be enjoyable and provide children with inclusive opportunities to maximise and develop physical confidence in a way that promotes healthy, active lifestyles; through an equal opportunity of learning experiences, promoting teamwork to build character, personal traits such as confidence, self-esteem, respect and fairness, using and applying knowledge to impact their physical activity, participation, and healthy lifestyle.

Rationale

The PE curriculum planning aims to ensure that all pupils are given the tools, understanding and opportunity to develop the fundamental skills and competences to excel in a wide range of physical sports and activities by providing a broad and balanced curriculum with lots of opportunities for all to be enjoyed, enhancing life-long fitness and life choices. It contributes to the development of a range of important cognitive skills such as decision-making, reflection, evaluation, and social skills such as teamwork, and co-operation, through the development of physical confidence, problem solving, challenge and promoting self-esteem.
